About the Role
We are looking for Locomotive drivers to join our Darwin (Berrimah) team on a permanent basis to commence as soon as possible. The core purpose of the role is to operate locomotives and provide operational support to ensure the safe and efficient working of our trains.
Your responsibilities will include:
Operating locomotives in a safe and efficient manner.
Carrying out shunting at yards, depots and sidings and carrying out the examination of trains, including the conducting of brake and continuity tests.
Carrying out preparation, stabling, turning and assembling of locomotives.
Carrying out minor running repairs and card vehicles for attention and carry out trip servicing of locomotives and railcars.
Carrying out roll-by inspections and pilot locomotives, railcars and trains as required.
Correcting and resetting minor on-road faults and diagnose and liaise with specialist staff for major on-road faults and failures.
Preparing reports in relation to locomotive/vehicle/wagon defects, accidents, incidents and irregularities.
Operating, in accordance with correct procedures, all communications equipment and preparing documentation associated with the operation of the train and driving motor vehicles.
We are looking for quality candidates who possess a can-do attitude and demonstrate a high level of passion and dedication for driving trains and delivering exceptional customer service. This is a 24/7 operation; therefore, you must be willing to undertake shift work, work on weekends and public holidays as part of a 24/7 roster.
To be successful you must possess:
Locomotive Driver qualifications;
Recent practical experience working on locomotives;
Experience with shunting duties (mandatory);
A basic working knowledge of safe-working procedures in a railway environment;
A current unrestricted motor vehicle drivers licence;
A strong commitment to following rules and operating safely
A willingness to be part of a team.
A positive outlook and enthusiastic attitude;
A high level of concentration
High level of customer service skills
Current safeworking qualifications
